ACE Mentorship and TS

For the past year, our Director of Estimating and Business Development, Alex DeLeeuw, has been working alongside students at Santiago High School in an effort to train up young professionals in Architecture, Construction, and Engineering (ACE). The ACE Mentoring program creates an opportunity for students to engage with these industries and determine whether they might pursue careers in these fields.
This past week, Alex attended the ACE Mentoring Inland Empire Graduation Ceremony. Each of the four high school teams presented the project they had been working on all school year. Alex believes that regardless of any personal bias he may have towards his students, they had the most complex project by far. His team of students, with guidance from volunteer architects, teachers, and Alex, designed a three story mixed-use remodel including all MEP systems.

From Alex's view, Santiago High School has a very special program, and the level of student commitment to furthering their young careers in ACE fields is very impressive. Several seniors were heading to college with ACE scholarships. Alex enjoyed mentoring the students from a constructability standpoint and even learned a decent amount of architectural and MEP design programming himself.
